HX 2018 Featured Exciting New Awards and Platforms

Following HX: The Hotel Experience 2018, HX: The Newsletter Editor Laura Koss-Feder spoke with Bethanne Doud about highlights from this year's show. Doud is HX's business development manager.
Q. What do you feel were some of the most dynamic aspects of this year’s show?
A. We had a few key highlights and additions at this year's HX:
--The new HX educational conference exceeded our registration 2018 goals. It was very well attended.
--The look and feel of the Marketplace included brand new HX: ONSTAGE Hotel, F&B and Tech Stages. These sessions brought in record attendance.
--Also introduced was the Hosted Buyer Program - which matches key buyers in the industry with qualified exhibitors showcasing the most innovative and exciting products and services on the show floor.
--The inaugural HX: The Awards ceremony and reception recognized Best Hotel F&B Concept, Hotel of the Year, Next Gen Leader, Outstanding Woman in Hospitality Leadership and General Manager of the Year.
--In collaboration with HX, FCSI and vendor partners, the 2018 Foodservice Pioneering Concept Design winner was featured and built on the show floor. This year’s winner was Paladar Flexi-Servir which is a small plate kitchen that can easily transform into a community space. Click here for more information.
Q. What do you feel stood out the most about the HX: The Conference portion?
A. The HX Conference featured several major thought leaders in the hospitality industry. The sessions strived to address hot topics such as:
--The dynamic workforce and today’s practices and innovations in hiring, retaining, and cultivating teams.
--The hotel “smart room” – everything from implementation and operation to privacy and staff training and guest experience.
--The synergies and fusion of hospitality, wellness, and design.
--GDPR and how to move forward and thrive in this new era of data privacy.
Q.What would be some of the most valuable information that hoteliers learned this year at HX?
A. Our attendees learned how technology disruptors, innovation, and design are essential influencers in the industry. They learned how guest room technology, aromatherapy, and voice-activated robots, like Alexa, are the new normal and are the pathways to create memorable experiences and guest loyalty.
