Hospitality Media Group (HMG) has announced its new hospitality industry awards program called HX: The Awards. The inaugural awards will be presented at HX: The Hotel Experience in November in New York City.The awards program is part of the new HX branding and growth strategy initiatives implemented by HMG earlier this year to expand HX to a B2B media brand for hotel and restaurant professionals.

Just named one of Adweek's rising brand stars, Vicki Poulos, senior global brand director for Moxy Hotels, offers a glimpse into the mindset behind the creation and expansion of this hip Marriott brand. With an average guest room size of 183 square feet, Moxy Hotels offer high-tech features throughout the properties, minimalist style, various dining options, and extra lively public areas that boast games and other extras. The first Moxy Hotel opened in Milan in 2014. There are currently 29 open; seven of these are in the United States. Designed to offer a more cost-effective alternative to traditional hotels, the brand's average ADR is around $200.

With this issue of HX: The Newsletter having a theme of Innovators, it was a good time to visit with Jonathan Wilson, vice president of customer experience and innovation at Hilton Hotels & Resorts, to see what is happening at the company's Innovation Gallery. Hilton opened this 4,300-square-foot incubator and experiential showcase for cutting-edge product developments in November 2017. It is located next to the brand's global headquarters in McLean, Va. The gallery is open to invited guests, which include Hilton employees, hotel owners, and technology partners.
