What’s New With HX: Hosted Buyer Program
By Jennifer Goforth Gregory
Hotel owners and operators with an upcoming project can save time and money at this year’s HX: The Hotel Experience 2018 through the new Hosted Buyer Program. Instead of spending hours wandering through the exhibition hall, properties undergoing a new development or renovation project within the next 12 months can participate in the program and be matched with suppliers offering the products and services they need.
Connecting Properties with Resources Needed to Successfully Complete Large Projects
The hosted buyer supplies HX organizer Hospitality Media Group (HMG) with information on the project and specific focus areas, such as a new guest room locking system or vehicles for guest transportation. HX then matches the attendee with suppliers from the Marketplace and sets up ten 20-minute meetings for the buyer over the two-day event.
Hosted buyers receive a complimentary Marketplace registration and a $600 gift card from HX. In addition to having their visit and registration sponsored, participants will be invited to networking events with other hosted buyers to make connections and share best practices with properties undergoing similar projects.
“HX gives hosted buyers a chance to shop across all areas of their property — technology, amenities, F&B, HVAC — they can do one-stop shopping at the event,” says Phil Robinson, Senior Vice President & Group Show Director for HMG. “With the Hosted Buyer Program, we help hospitality industry professionals by first understanding their needs, and then proactively connecting them with a resource that can help solve their problem.”
Leveraging Success of Hosted Buyer Programs at HMG
While the Hosted Buyer program is a new HX program, HMG has offered the service at other of its events, including BDwest. HMG used its experience with successfully providing the service for design resources, and has refined the program to specifically meet the needs of hotel operations and services.
The Hosted Buyer Program provides value to a wide spectrum of properties — resorts, independent properties, and casinos. Because the Hosted Buyer Program focuses on the property level, attendees who are the owner or general manager and their executive teams — such as the executive housekeeper and directors of security — are the best fit for the program.
Individuals interested in participating in the Hosted Buyer Program can complete a nomination form during the HX registration process. HMG is also working with exhibitors and industry associations to identify properties and prospect with large upcoming development and renovation projects.
“HX has many unique resources within the Marketplace to help properties improve the guest experience and the hotel’s profitability. Properties without a specific need or project find shopping at HX a valuable way to improve the quality of their property,” said Robinson. “The Hosted Buyer Program is a formal way to help properties with a specific project to save time and resources while having their visit sponsored at the same time.”
