A true restaurateur at heart, Alex first caught the hospitality bug buzzing around his childhood home prepping for his mother’s dinner parties and serving when guests arrived. Over the years, he has had a hand in directing dozens of food and beverage outlets from Vegas to Austin and earned his stripes working alongside five-diamond hotel moguls and James Beard award-winning chefs.
As Kimpton’s senior VP of restaurants and bars, Alex oversees over 70 unique restaurants, bars and lounges across the United States and manages all aspects of restaurant operations, including financial performance, overall profitability and concept development of new restaurants and bars. He is committed to bringing excellence to the restaurant division and evolving the brand’s strategic approach to food and beverage programming and shaping the overall guest experience.
Alex first cut his teeth in the restaurant business in 2002 as the manager of Craftsteak in the MGM Mirage Hotel under Chef Tom Colicchio. He later became GM of FiAMMA and eventually became the director of food & beverage for Mandalay Bay. There he was responsible for directing 32 food and beverage outlets and $250 million in food and beverage revenue.
In 2007, Alex moved on to Wynn Resorts as the executive director of food & beverage for Encore, overseeing 13 food and beverage outlets for the resort and responsible for all aspects of restaurant openings, while collaborating with renowned chefs including, Mark LoRusso (Botero), Theo Schoenegger (Sinatra), Jet Tila (Wazuz) and more. Prior to joining Kimpton, Alex was co-owner and partner for Due Forni, an authentic Italian dual pizza concept with locations in Las Vegas and Austin.
Alex is a graduate of Duke University and holds a MBA from The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business. Alex enjoys the great outdoors and regularly hits the slopes, mountains and tennis courts. Alex lives in Austin with his wife, Carla and children, David and Noel.
